I have been quilting for about ten years now, but I have never actually been to a quiltbee. I am am member of quite an amount of online quiltingbees though and yesterday I went to a meeting of one of those groups. DH asked what one does at such an occasion, well, one gets to meet people one nows only from the internet, one gets to admire each others quilts, one gets to shop in the in house shop (when there is one) and one gets to chat with each other. Oh and most of the time one also does a small workshop, we made a little flower but with all the chatting it turned out very crooked.
The in house quiltshop had a lovely surprise, aside from the regular cottons, they also brought a big pile of designer scraps for a very good prize. I do not need cottons, but I do need other fabrics, so I bought me two bags filled with silks, velvets and scary golden fabrics, with which I am really pleased.
