If you can't stand the heat,

Het thema van de abstract challenge voor deze maand was "Kitchen" (keuken). Toen ik dit thema las, was het eerste dat in me opkwam het spreekwoord "If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen". Het vergde even wat denkwerk om te verzinnen hoe ik daar dan een abstracte voorstelling van moest maken, maar uiteindelijk is dit het geworden:


Een brandende gaspit, met een tekst er boven die niets aan duidelijkheid te wensen overlaat (als je tenminste Engels verstaat, "mama, wat betekent dat, get oet?") met brabants bont, een echt typisch hollands kneuterig keukenstofje als achtergrond.

For the abstract challenge, this months topic was "kitchen". The first thing that I thought of was the proverb "if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen". I almost always make a quiltlet using the first thing I think about, so after some thinking I made this quiltlet.
It is a circular burner, on a background of a fabric that I associate with typically dutch, last century, kitchenessness: Brabants bont.
