Stempelen

Behalve je stof verven met procion kun je er ook op stempelen. Je kunt stempels kopen of ze zelf maken. Als je je stempels zelf maakt kun daar speciale materialen voor gebruiken zoals linoleum of foam maar je kunt ook van alles dat je gewoon in huis vind met dubbelzijdig plakband op een blokje hout plakken.

Onderstaand lapje is gestempeld met verschillende van deze materialen, een soort sampler dus: Van links naar rechts en van boven naar beneden:
Een soort smalle ijslollie stokjes die Mary thuis uit de prullenbak had gevist, een klosje van quiltgaren (dual duty), een in reepjes geknipte binnenband, zo'n metalen omhulsel van een theeglas (platgeslagen) en ijzertjes van wasknijpers.
Koffielepeltjes, een vleeswarenbakje en een batikstempel.

Apart from dying your own fabrics with fiberreactive dye, you can also use paint and stamps. You can buy your stamps, make them with special stamp-making stuff or use household materials that you glue on a block of wood.
The fabric in the picture is made with stamps of the last kind.
I used:
A kind of narrow wooden sticks fished from the trashcan by Mary, A thread spool, a bicycle tire cut into small strips, the metal surrounding of a teaglass, the little irons from clothes pegs.
Plastic spoons for stirring coffee, a little plastic container and a batikstamp.
