Nan's Naiad

Het was al weer een hele tijd geleden dat ik een blokje voor de Dear Jane had gemaakt. Andere (patchwork en niet-patchwork) dingen hadden mijn aandacht harder nodig. En wat ook niet hielp, is dat blok L-10; Nan's Naiad aan de beurt was.

Zo moeilijk als de naam van dit blok is, zo moeilijk was hij ook te maken met paperpiecing.

Dit zijn het originele blok en de lijn-tekening:

niet te doen, dus, met al die kleine geappliceerde driehoekjes en Y-naden.

Gelukkig is dit een blok aan de buitenkant van de quilt, donkerblauw dus. Ik heb het patroon genomen, de kleuren gehandhaafd en verder gewoon nieuwe lijnen getekend zodat hij wel uitvoerbaar werd:

Als ik hem dan ga quilten, quilt ik de ontbrekende lijnen er gewoon in.

It was quite a while ago, that I made my last DJ block. To preoccupied with other (patchwork and non-patchwork) things. What also didn't help was that block L-10, Nans Naiad, was the next block I was going to make.

The piecing was as difficult as it's name. Tiny appliqued triangles and Y-seams made paperpiecing impossible. Luckily, the block is on the outside of the quilt, which means dark blue fabric and an opportunity to fudge. I have kept the colour-placement, but redrafted the entire block. On the missing seams I will add quilting.
